Advantages of Artfire
I've opened new stores on Artfire, Shophandmade, Trendie Indie, BigCartel and 1000markets. I'll add an interior design outlet as soon as I finish the pillows. If you want to know why so many stores, it's like Starbucks, the more outlets, the more exposure, the more you sell.
This is the news - Stay on Etsy for the millions of folks who both sell and buy on that site. But, RUN to Artfire as soon as you can get there. These folks are not about being artsy fartsy and clichey, they are about giving you the tools to sell your work. I LOVE IT, or as Rachel Zoe says "Bananas."
I've had an Etsy store for three months. You know sometimes you just suffer in silence. Artfire is a revelation. They get marketing! So easy, so many resources, so many ways to advertise and sell your work.
The little mini store is just a very user friendly way to sell. You can buy directly no clicking to get to the sales site, no joining, no fuss. GENIUS.
In addition to the store, kiosks can also be placed on your Facebook fan page or other social networking sites. Artfire provides a direct link to a favorites site (thisnext.com), a paid advertising service at a reasonable price, advertising on Artfire also at a reasonable price, bulk importing of items already listed on Etsy, a great color search tool (for both buyers and sellers, the seller part is what's missing from Etsy), automatic listing on Google Base and more. I've been purchasing showcases on Etsy for $7.00 for twenty four hours of exposure. On Artfire I can showcase my work for a week for $2.50. Do the math. You know where I plan to spend my advertising dollars from here on.
The folks in Brooklyn just got SEO, come on. Somebody needs to let the big E know that the 21st century has started and that Artfire is fully participating.
Artfire is not and will not be perfect, but I'll accept the proposal and enjoy the marriage.
