The end of this week, the beginning of a new one.

What a week. Lee McQueen of Alexander McQueen died. His work with digitally designed and printed textiles was out of this world. Go in peace.

Today is the last day of One World, One Heart Magic Carpet ride. I really enjoyed traveling around the world and visiting blogs. My favorite location was Scotland (Scotland is always my favorite location). If you have an opportunity to see the movie "Local Hero," do. Beautiful Scottish scenery.

I'll post my giveaway winners tonight before I go to bed. (PST). I wish I could give something to each and every participant. Maybe, next year.

I did some reading about Heidi Chisholm. Hopefully I'll have a post on her work within the next week or two. She is a graphic/textile designer from South Africa, now living in Brooklyn, NY.

The fabric is dyed for the Spring Summer "Pretty" by Yasmintoo! line of sun dresses. The dresses in the etsy shop are made from  upcycled cotton sheets, low water immersion dyed with procion mx fiber reactive dyes. etsy is also the place to find upcycled tshirts, blouses and hoodies. An upscale version of the sun dresses dyed on organic silk hemp, cotton voile and a linen/cotton blend can be found in the yasmintoo.1000markets.com shop, along with spring stoles, shawls and table napkins.

Happy Birthday to two of our longest family friends, Marge was 80 today, Shirley was 90 on Friday. May we all live so long and so well.

Facebook, Friends, Family, Business Pages, Groups

Lots of blah, blah, wee going on about FaceBook and 25 friends, business pages no longer the be all end all, and having more meaningful interactions with family, friends and in groups. The Dye Garden

The idea of the dye garden is very simple. Request dye plant seeds from me, or buy your own and begin your garden. Doesn't matter whether you have an acre, a small backyard, a window sill or a balcony. See below for links on how to get your seeds started. I've ordered indigo seeds from Botanical Colors (Madam Magyar), Blue Light Junction (grown in Baltimore, MD) and Ossabaw Island, GA (Mayan Blue). Soon indigo seeds should be arriving from my friend Kiri in Brazil.   In addition to the indigo seeds, I also have weld, woad, coreopsis, black hopi sunflower and madder seeds.  This seed variety will produce a full spectrum of colors. Primary colors when used individually in a dyebath, and a host of secondary and tertiary colors when combined.
