In the Studio: Creating Clothing Patterns

Print AllOver Me posted the new garment blank collection on September 15th. My debut date for YAS dress Autumn Winter 2015 collection is October 1st.

The challenge is tailoring patterns for the clothes within that two-week time frame.

The garments in this PAOM collection are contemporary casual clothing. Hoodies, dropped crotch pants, T-shirts.

So, it’s into the image folders to select designs. That’s where I’m at now. Once selected the designs are uploaded to PhotoShop for digital editing and cropping.

Using Illustrator, I manipulate and combine designs to create final patterns, then back to PhotoShop for final sizing and saving as PNGs to upload onto the garment blanks.

The images shown are low water immersion dyed, stencil and hand painted backgrounds They are used as starting points for more hand painting or other textile art processes. Some are uploaded into Illustrator, without further embellishment, to be combined with more complex designs or with each other.
