You Are Activism
Black and white art prints are the perfect foil for color. Doesn’t
matter if the art print is on your wall, your body or in your chair.

Thinking and Thoughts
Working on magazine layout, ongoing for the next several
weeks.
Still waiting on supplies and order deliveries. Seems like a
long time to me.
On the home front, Ms. Budah Bella needs to go to the vet –
trim, flea bath, nails trimmed, teeth cleaned. Oh the life of a dog.
The garden is loving the cooler weather (80s in the day, 50s
at night). The San Marzano tomatoes are in bloom, so are the eggplant and the
Thai peppers.
The green stuff is up – lettuces, kale, broccoli, chard, a
cabbage for one of my neighbors.
Got a gift of five pots of basil and one of sage. The basil
is planted under the tomatoes and the sage went in with the greens.
Two pots of peppermint to plant, supposed to be good for
keeping the mice away. I am surrounded by orchards and fields. Empty now, so
the mice are ready to join us for the winter. I call them Bernice’s tribe. Last
year, Bernice would come out in the evening, look at me, start a conversation
and then scamper back to her family in their hiding place. Bernice went the way
of Decon.
I have everything for the compost pile ready – scraps,
leaves, evergreen needles, coffee grounds, and manure.
Now I need to turn
that cement we call dirt in the back yard.
Still warm enough for flies. When I compost I get flies.
So this year I’m digging a deep, wide hole for the compost,
layering it and covering the whole thing with a good pile of dirt.
Will aerate, water and then plant on top of it next year.
And so goes life in the unincorporated area called Garden
Acres in San Joaquin County, Central Valley, California, United States, North
America, Earth.
What’s happening in your neighborhood?
