You Are Innovation
So, you’ve been thinking to yourself, does this woman just
play around with clothes all day long.
Nope.
I actually play around in the studio creating fabric designs
and pattern on the best days.
Other days, I’m on the computer from what sometimes seems
like morning to late night.
Occasionally I take time off and just stare into space.
This seems to get my creative juices flowing.
The fine art, card, yardage and pillow lines are more
traditional textile art processes, less digital editing.
Karen Davis likes the original Parallel Universe piece.
I’m not sure this is
the version Karen likes, but we’ll see.

Thoughts and Thinking
I read a post this morning from a musician who used crowd funding
to sell her latest album.
She raised a million dollars.
Rewarded her supporters with innovative and engaging gifts
related to the production of the album and planned tour.
Then the chatter that accompanies successful use of
technology and crowd pleasing came raining down on her head.
Wish that it would.
The process required a great deal of change and innovation,
for the performer, her audience, her critics and supporters.
25,000 folks supported this campaign with contributions as
small as $1.00.
What impressed me about the whole thing was the positive
tone; the spirit of community; and the commitment to find new innovative,
social, economic and creative ways to fund art.
The community center where I instruct an arts class is also
in the process of change.
Change that hopefully will take this historic
community where I live (Okieville) and it’s committed residents into a 21st
century where the benefits of art, technology, and education will provide the
ability to support healthy families and productive lives.
No New York Times or Huffington Post articles on Okieville,
Garden Acres, yet.
The lives of descendants of the Great Depression Dust Bowl
migration and new American immigrants are not front page news, unless it
regards Obama and Congress.
Does change have priorities?
Depends on how we look at the world.
How do you see it?
I hear your silent answers, questions, suggestions and
comments.
I’m patient.
